Before you book anything, you probably want one question answered: how do celebrities look younger without a facelift? Most of them follow a plan their dermatologist builds in layers, and you’ll hear non-surgical facelift treatments explained the same way at your first visit with us in Washington, DC.
Here are the questions Dr. Anju Pabby answers, starting with your dermal filler plan and ending with your calendar.
Non-Surgical Facelift Treatments Explained: Which Ones Will You Need?
When you look in the mirror, you’re probably noticing three things: lines that stay put after you stop frowning, cheeks that look flatter than they used to, and skin that has started to loosen along your jaw. At your consult, you’ll have the chance to point out all three to Dr. Pabby, and she’ll tell you which one to treat first.
For most of our patients, that means Botox first, filler at a later visit, and Thermage last. According to Healthline, most of these take under an hour, and several let you go back to work the same day.
When Will My Facelift Start With Botox, and How Often Will I Come Back?
If your frown lines or crow’s feet bother you most, we’ll start you on Botox at that first visit, usually a small number of units in the forehead and between the brows. Dr. Pabby tends to under-treat on day one, because she can add more at your check.
You’ll come back two weeks later so we can look at the result together, and you’ll repeat the visit every three to four months. Your expressions keep moving as long as the dose stays light.
What Happens When My Facelift Moves to Filler?
If you decide to add filler, the second layer of the facelift, you’ll come in for a separate visit, and Dr. Pabby will likely place Juvéderm or Restylane in your cheeks, chin, or along your jawline. You’ll see the lift before you leave the chair, and since the filler comes pre-mixed with lidocaine, you’ll probably feel the first poke and mostly pressure after that.
If you tend to bruise, let us know, and ask about a next-day pass with the Excel V laser if you have an event coming up. Most patients find their filler lasts six to 12 months, per Healthline, so plan on a light refresh about once a year.
Our guide to booking your dermal filler appointment covers what to stop taking the week before.
When Do We Add Thermage to My Non-Surgical Facelift?
If your skin has loosened along your jaw or under your chin, Dr. Pabby will likely suggest Thermage rather than more filler. You’ll feel heat during the session, and most patients notice their jawline firming up over the following months.
Gwyneth Paltrow told Hello! magazine in 2013 that Thermage was more uncomfortable than she expected and that it worked, and we’ll tell you the same. Best of all, the tightening tends to last several months to a year, so you’d book it alongside your yearly filler refresh.
You’ll hear about Thermage at the same visit where you get non-surgical facelift treatments explained, so you can budget for it from the start.
What Will I Leave My First Non-Surgical Facelift Visit With?
By the end of your first visit with Dr. Pabby, a board-certified dermatologist with cosmetic-surgery fellowship training, you’ll have the order written down, a customized estimate for each step, and your first treatment date. If you’d rather go slowly, you can start with one layer.
A good place to start is our anti-aging consultation guide lists the questions we’ll ask during your first visit.
Dr. Dale Isaacson and Dr. Marilyn Berzin have practiced in Washington, DC for more than 35 years, so the order you’re given has decades behind it. Relax, restore, then tighten is non-surgical facelift treatments explained in six words.
