The 30’s are a delicate time for your skin, as acne subsides and the skin loses moisture.  You’ll start seeing more fine lines, sun spots, and hyperpigmentation, but we’ve got the arsenal to combat these skin baddies.

Skincare in your 30’s doesn’t stop at the mirror.  Assess your diet and cut out processed foods and sugars.  What you eat reflects on your skin and eating well is invaluable for glowing skin at any age.  Throw in some superfoods like dark leafy greens (kale and spinach are stellar in skincare).  Swap out carb-loaded snacks with a nutrient-dense, high-protein greek yogurt with antioxidant-rich berries and watch your waistline shrink as your skin glows.

For your skin care routine: cleanse your face twice a day with a gentle formula; add a natural toner to keep your skin firm and minimize pores; and moisturize, moisturize moisturize.  The 30’s take a toll on skin’s moisture and elasticity, so be sure to always keep a bottle on tap.  Opt for a light moisturizer with SPF protection to combat the sun’s UV-A and UV-B rays.  In colder seasons, don’t hesitate to increase your SPF factor because ultraviolet rays bounce off snow, sleet, and anything in between.  Additionally, incorporating a daytime moisturizer packed with retinol and antioxidants can only help your skin maintain its youthful beauty.  One thing to avoid is drenching your visage with products.  Having an extensive nightly routine filled with jars, bottles, and scrubs sounds profound and magical, but you’re irritating your skin more than helping it.

Exfoliation? At most, bi-weekly exfoliation is all you need to scrub away dead skin cells.  The skin becomes more delicate as you age and excess exfoliation is will do more harm than good.  If you come to our offices for monthly microdermabrasion, at-home exfoliation is won’t be necessary.

If you’ve ever played with the idea of Botox, your 30’s may be the perfect time to set those thoughts into motion.  Prevent fine wrinkles from becoming deeper lines with a 20-minute Silk Peel or try a chemical peel to revitalize your skin to its smooth and taut youth.  To minimize sunspots around the neck and facial region, ask your dermatologist about the Fraxel Re:Store treatment.

“It’s important to remember great skin at any age is through the cumulation of a consistent and tailored skin care regimen.  Religious application of sunscreen in your 20’s will only help keep your skin youthful.  Pair that with a healthy diet and your skin should be an adamant warrior in aging gracefully.” says Dr. Marilyn Berzin.
