Dale Isaacson, M.D.
Dr. Dale Isaacson is a recognized leader as a dermatologist and cosmetic makeover specialist in the competitive Washington, DC market. A consultant and instructor for Thermage, Sculptra, Exilis, Fraxel, Perlane, Dysport and Aesthera, Dr. Isaacson continues to be at the forefront of technological advances that shape the industry. In addition, Dr. Isaacson has been consistently recognized by Washingtonian magazine as one of the region’s “Top Doctors” since the honor was first created nearly two decades ago.
But for all his accomplishments, Dr. Isaacson enjoys dermatology for the difference it makes to others. “I’m passionate about seeing my patients walk out looking and feeling better,” he says. “I enjoy the artistry of the cosmetic work. I like helping people look the way they want to feel.”
Dr. Isaacson got a head start on his career when he was accepted to medical school during only his junior year of college at Washington University in St. Louis. A native Washingtonian, Dr. Isaacson returned to D.C. to study at George Washington University Medical School. A dermatology rotation between his second and third years convinced him of his career path. “I just fell in love with it,” he says. “Dermatology is a diverse specialty. It’s part medicine, part surgery and part cosmetics. I like the visual aspect of it, seeing what you’re dealing with. Mostly, I like the way science combines with artistry to defeat challenges.” After receiving his M.D., he completed his Medical Internship at George Washington University Hospital and his Dermatology Residency at George Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Isaacson opened his practice in 1981, and was joined by Dr. Marilyn Berzin in 1984. He’s also an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology and Medicine at George Washington University Medical Center.
Dermatology is a continuously evolving science, and Dr. Isaacson has made it a priority to lead the way. “Technology allows us to achieve significant improvements through non-surgical means,” says Dr. Isaacson. “It’s our goal to be an innovator, to define the trends, not follow them.”
In Washington and nationwide, Dr. Isaacson is recognized as among the first dermatologists to offer:
- Thermage
- Fraxel
- Sculptra
- Aestherali
- Intense Pulsed Light
In addition to his work as a consultant for many of those companies, Dr. Isaacson also trains other doctors in the latest technologies. Among his other accolades, he’s past president of the Washington, D.C. Dermatology Society. He’s also a Fellow with a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Photomedicine Society and the Society for Investigative Dermatology. He’s a member of the D.C. Dermatology Society and the D.C. Medical Society.
Regarding his drive to lead, Dr. Isaacson explains, “I’m always looking for a better way to enhance the appearance of our patients. People often come in not knowing what they want. No one expects them to be aware of all the technological advancements. Being first allows us to better help our patients, to offer more experience and choices. The reward is being able to go beyond what the patients expect and offer them an expanded vision of beauty. It helps patients feel better about themselves. They leave feeling more confident.”
Dr. Isaacson has been married to his wife Debbie since 1973. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
