Within the past several years, men have become more interested in cosmetic enhancements to improve their appearance and combat the signs of aging.

Many of these patients hope to smooth wrinkles and tighten their skin for a natural and refreshed look.

Thermage is an excellent treatment option for men as it is extremely effective, non-invasive and has zero downtime.

Here’s what you need to know.

What Is Thermage?

Thermage is an FDA-approved device used to tighten and contour the face, neck, and body.

It uses radiofrequency to penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin and create controlled thermal damage to stimulate collagen and elastin.

Who’s a Good Candidate for Thermage?

Men and women with mild to moderate skin laxity, creases, and sagging are excellent candidates for Thermage.

Patients in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and even sometimes 60’s can experience excellent results with this non-surgical procedure.

What to Expect from Treatment?

Prior to Thermage, the face and or neck will be cleansed, photographed and the treatment area will be marked. The procedure consists of a series of pulses that are administered in a stamping motion with a hand piece that’s attached to the Thermage device.

Each pulse emits radiofrequency energy that heats the dermis, while leaving the outer layers of the skin unaffected. The Thermage tip also applies a cooling agent for increased patient comfort.

Most procedures take approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on the area or areas being treated.

Post-Care Instructions

Patients can notice some early contracture of the skin once the treatment has been completed.

The face may be slightly red or swollen, and all normal activities can be resumed immediately after.

Thermage Results

Thermage results will improve gradually over the next six months for a subtle firming of the face and neck. These effects typically last 2 years, at which time, a maintenance treatment may be performed.
